When was the last time you took your computer to a repair shop and was greeted with a smile and cold glass of water? Most of the time unless you take your PC to a large repair store you may find yourself getting used to creepy guys wearing sunglasses inside at night, who seem as though you wouldn’t trust them to park your car, let alone have a few days alone with your computer.
These days, it seems as though anyone who has spent anytime with computers in their childhood, fixing their neighbors computers for free, read a few posts on Google about how to uninstall Norton, put a few ads on Craig’s List and can throw up a website can call themselves a computer repair tech. Especially in South Florida.
It’s inevitable that your computer is eventually going to contract some sort of infection, need a tune up and clean up, or just plain old quit running on you one day, and you will need to find a reputable computer repair company that you can trust to fix you up. You really don’t want to go to the over prices brand names like Best Buy, Office Depot, or Staples since they pretty much just ship it out to someone that can fix it any ways.
The thing you really want to do is try to find a local shop that can handle your repairs, that you can develop a relationship with. One local company I have had the luxury of developing a relationship with is A Plus Computer Support, 2300 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. #101, West Palm Beach, FL 33409, 561-283-4034, but don’t take my word for it check them out for yourself.
The question is just how do you find the right type of company that you can trust and come to count on to be there when you need good service?
The internet is one of the best resources when it cos to finding out information about someone or a particular place you would like to do business with. It is easy to find out if a place has a bad reputation, or if they have no reputation. If a business has been in business for any particular length of time then they should at least have a few reviews somewhere that you can count on learning a little bit about the type of customer service they have.
Another way is to investigate (or just ask) if they have a business license to operate in the city in which you are in. If they have not gone through the process of registering with the county and city then something isn’t right there. Is this really a company you can trust with your personal data. They will hae access once you leave your computer with them.
Another quality that will tell you some very valuable information about the company you are dealing with is their warranty and guarantee. Do they even have one? Are they going to stand behind it? Always ask up front what a re the stipulations and how it works. When someone suggests a company ask them about that.
Finally, you can find out a lot about a company by the prices they charge. One thing I have learned through my experiences with service providers is you usually get what you pay for. Although just because you pay top dollar for a service or an item does not guarantee you get the best, I have have always wishing i spent the extra few dollars when trying to go with the cheapest. For example a computer repair West Palm Beach company that has the cheapest rate for virus removal may not provide the level of warranty or actually clean your computer with preserving the programs on it. They may just wipe it clean and tell you tough luck on the programs, and hope you have them on disc. It costs money to uphold a warranty on products, ask any major manufacturer that has a good product out.
Basically just make sure you know who you are dealing with, and don’t be afraid to ask questions!
